ABSTRACT

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19) which spread across the world from 2019 has made large number of mortality and health issues to the world population. Many studies suggests that the virus impacts adversely on people with existing health issues. In this metanalysis and systematic review, the impact of covid 19 on parturition and neonates in India is done by assessing selected maternal factors and neonatal parameters. Method(s): Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines were applied for this systematic review and meta-analysis. Databases including PubMed, Web science and Science Direct, were searched from Nov 2019 to June 2022. Finding(s): 8 studies were selected after applying inclusion criteria with adequate data. This study analyzed the mode of parturition and found out that covid positive mothers are 4.131 times more likely to give birth through C section. The NICU admission and preterm birth of neonates is also positively correlated with covid positive mothers. Conclusion(s): The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19) is having impact on pregnancy by tending to have more C-section delivery and increased preterm birth along with increased NICU admission for Indian population.
